The Beginning

Before I go too far with this blog, I probably ought to explain what it is all about.  The name comes from this passage:

"Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot.  Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil - this is the gift of God.  For he will not much remember the days of his life because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart." Ecclesiastes 5:18-20

This passage is special to me, because it reminds me that God can give us joy in the mundane or otherwise unpleasant details of our lives, and we do not have to wait until Heaven to experience it.  God Himself, not our circumstances, is the source of our joy!  And He is always with us!

The purpose of this blog is to share with my friends and family the joy that He gives me in my deployment to Afghanistan.  Ok, maybe that sounds funny, but I really mean it!  I'm excited to see and experience all that I will see and experience there.  And I'm excited that I will do it with Him!

So, will you join me on this adventure?

  2. We are eager to see how God meets you--we know that joy goes before you and will be with you; it is in the presence of the Lord where fulness of joy is found and there is nowhere you can go that is away from Him.

We love you and are going to miss seeing you! Please post frequently! Love, Mrs. Sawyer

  3. I am so excited to see what God will do in and through you on this journey, Megan. You know I will miss your sunny self here at home, but I love seeing you use your gifts and skills to the glory of God in the places He sends you.
    Love you so much!
